While browsing Migros-Magazin, I found a section that invited readers to solve something step by step. It reminded me of the handwritten recipe I couldn’t understand without translation, moving through each line carefully and gradually arriving at the final dish. Rumford’s Soup, developed around 1800 by Benjamin Thompson (Count Rumford), was an early experiment in scientific nutrition. Designed as a cheap yet nourishing meal for the poor and prisoners, it later became a model for soup kitchens and military rations in Central Europe.
